Home Holiday Saftey

We are busy prepping for the holidays with our families here at Woodlands Realty, and wanted to share some tried and true methods for keeping your home and gifts safe for the holidays. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

1. Do not post your travel plans on social media.
Planning to travel this holiday season? Make sure not to tell everyone on your social media feeds about those plans.

2. Tell your neighbors.
If your planning to be out of town for the holidays, make sure and tell your neighbors. They can help you keep your home safe while your gone, by keeping an eye out for vehicles and persons who are not supposed to be there.

3. Hide presents and valuables.
Just as you want to keep presents hidden from children you also want them tucked away from would be burglars. Pretty wrapped packages are wonderful to look at but they also entice criminals.

4. Keep a close eye on Christmas lights.
The US Fire Administration says December is the deadliest month for electrical fires. As you get those lights out to hang, inspect them for frayed wires. Do not leave lights plugged in for long periods, unattended.

5. Do not put your Christmas tree in a front window.

While beautiful to see for people driving by looking at lights with their families, they are also very inviting for criminals looking to take your beautifully wrapped gifts for themselves.
